Fremantle's newest attraction, the Booyeembara Park Mountain Bike Trails are now open.The first of its kind in WA, the new mountain bike park features two 400m trails to cater for intermediate and experienced riders, along with a pump track for beginners.The project was made possible through a $300,000 contribution from State Government Member f. The trails will reopen at 7am, Monday 11 December. Fremantle Council has revealed the latest designs for a new club house and community facility servicing the Fremantle Public Golf Course and Booyeembara Park. The new building will replace the old club house and community facility that have been demolished to accommodate the upgrade of High Street by Main Roads WA. 'Boo Park', as it is affectionately known to the locals, is located where Montreal and Stevens Streets meet in White Gum Valley, immediately South of the Fremantle Public Golf Course. It's a gem of a place! 'Booyeembara' is a Noongar word meaning 'of the limestone hills'. The mountain bike track is between Boo Park and the Royal Fremantle Golf Course, in an area considered not suitable either for golf or walking. I believe kids saw the potential for a downhill ride with jumps and simply made it themselves—as early as 2018.
