Maitland Bay track is one of Bouddi National Park's most popular bushwalks. This short, steep walking track begins at Maitland Bay Information Centre. It then winds downhill to the secluded Maitland Bay, past the Bullimah Spur track junction, rock landings, gullies, Hawkesbury sandstone and Bouddi Grand Deep rainforest. Maitland Bay is a stunning beach located within the Bouddi National Park. Located along the track of one of the national parks most popular bushwalks, access to this beach requires moderate fitness levels with a 15-20 minute walk down but a 30-40 minute walk back up.

Maitland Bay is one of the most popular hidden beaches in Bouddi National Park. You can only get there by walking through the bush. And it's worth it. Walk down the steep but spacious 900 m Maitland Bay track to get to the beach. This track is most direct way, but there are other ones that lead to the beach as well (more below). The Maitland Bay Track is a short but steep bush trail in Bouddi National Park between the Information Centre and the isolated beach of Maitland Bay. The track showcases the beauty of the national park, with beautiful lush rainforest and stunning ocean views to enjoy. Located only a stone's throw away from Gosford and just 1.5 hours from Sydney, Maitland Bay can be accessed a couple of ways, but the best way (in my humble opinion) is via the spectacular Bouddi Coastal Walk in Bouddi National Park (one of the best NSW national parks, FYI). This relatively easy hike is characterised by sweeping views, shady rainforest and inviting picnic spots. Maitland Bay track begins at Maitland Bay Information Centre in the Maitland Bay precinct of Bouddi National Park. To get there from Gosford: Follow Central Coast Highway towards Erina. Turn right onto Avoca Drive and continue through Kincumber. Turn right at Empire Bay Drive. Turn left into Cochrone Street and then right onto The Scenic Road. The walk follows the Maitland Bay Track and the Bouddi Coastal walk to Putty Beach. The well sign-posted Maitland Bay Track is the easiest way to get to Maitland Bay (arguably the best beach in Bouddi National Park), and one of the most popular tracks in the park, it ends with views of the wreck of the S.S. Maitland which was off the end of Boudi point. . Starting near the Maitland Bay Information Centre, where there is a large car park, the track immediately starts.

Maitland Bay Track. The Maitland Bay Track starts from the car park and then descends down a series of pathways and steps to the beach. Rated grade 3, the track is well maintained, but you will need a reasonable level of fitness at the track is quite steep. Over its one kilometre length, the track descends 146 metres. The Maitland Bay Track is a short but steep bushwalk that winds its way down from the Bouddi National Park Information Centre to the stunning beach of Maitland Bay through beautiful rainforest. While the track down to the beach may be very easy, the return trip is quite challenging, with some very steep sections to conquer.
Maitland Bay Beach. The real reason to walk the Maitland Bay track, however, is to get to Maitland Bay Beach at the bottom. The only other way to get to this .6km-long beach is by boat. Once at Maitland Bay Beach, you can swim, but there are no lifeguard patrols. The water also gets deep pretty quickly. Continue along the coast past a cave and onto the idyllic sands of Maitland Bay beach before climbing up to Bouddi Point and the foot of Mount Bouddi. The fire trail continues to trend northeast away from the sea cliffs until the final stop at Little Beach.
