Camping at Mitchell River National Park
Angusvale campground is located at the end of Mitchell River Road, further north along the Bairnsdale-Dargo Road/C601. Turn right off the C601 and follow the track for 16 kilometres. To access the eastern side of the park, turn right off the C601 onto Lindenow-Glenaladale Road. Cross the bridge over the Mitchell River and turn left to stay on. Mitchell River National Park, on Brabralung Country, protects impressive river scenery, serene rainforest gullies, rugged landscapes and some of Victoria's more unusual vegetation communities. From open forest to remote river gorges, the park is an exciting destination for outdoor activities. Mitchell River National Park is located 500km northwest of Kununurra. The park is only accessible by road in high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles and high clearance single axle towable units. The track to the park is maintained on an irregular basis and may have wash-outs and corrugations. The Mitchell River National Park covers a relatively small area of only 11 900 hectares in size, yet still contains some of the best forest country in Gippsland. There aren't many roads or tracks into the park, but there are a few great tracks as well as walking tracks to view the impressive river scenery, rainforest gullies, rugged landscapes and a range of other vegetation.
