A relic of north Queensland's volcanic past, Mount Fox is an isolated, well-preserved, dormant volcano, protected within the 215ha area of Mount Fox, Girringun National Park. Plant communities in and around Mount Fox are restricted by the windy conditions and a landscape riddled with boulders. Mount Fox is 63.6 kilometres south-west of Ingham via the Herbert River Valley and the Seaview Range. Travel west from Ingham along Abergowrie Road to Trebonne. From here the route is well signposted. About 20 kilometres from the park in the Mount Fox Forest Reserve, a lookout provides views across the valley.

Fox is a small, tussock covered peak on the South Island's West Coast, located just outside of the tourist center of Fox Glacier.
