At 886 metres (2,907 ft) above sea-level, it is also the highest British peak south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia. Pen y Fan is one of the most popular walks in Wales. When the weather is fine, the views are truly splendid. Mile upon mile of rolling hills disappear into the distance, fringed by eons-old sheer cliffs.
