Shearing the Rams is an 1890 painting by Australian artist Tom Roberts. It depicts sheep shearers plying their trade in a timber shearing shed. Tom Roberts's large canvas, Shearing the rams (fig. 1) is popularly seen today as an archetypal vision of Australian pastoral life. With his considerable capacity for self-advertisement, Roberts did much to foster this notion.

"Shearing the Rams" is one of the paintings that resulted from Roberts' stay.
