Cat Lake Campground, located 20 minutes north of downtown Squamish, is a quieter alternative to the busy Alice Lake Campground just down the road. A quiet moment on the campsite at a busy Cat Lake Recreation Site, in Squamish, British Columbia. This is a pic of the tree-lined campsite up above Cat Lake on a long weekend in BC - the grounds were pretty busy and loud (well into the evening), which is surprising for a walk-in, non-reservable campground, but it was quite. CAT LAKE TRAILS. A great family campsite and a bustling dirt biker area to the east, and fine hiking to the west. Origin of name: In 1938 local loggers first used "Cats," also known as Caterpillar bulldozers, to move felled logs. Trailhead: Entrance to provincial park. Use: Single track, biking, hiking and noisy biking. Difficulty: Blue. Elevation: 190 to 340 metres. 1. Paradise Valley Campground: Best for a Quiet Stay This unique forest campground is known for beautiful nature and peaceful serenity and is one of the best campgrounds Squamish has to offer. All the sites have been designed to mesh seamlessly into the natural surroundings, making them all different, distinct and well-separated for privacy. The Cat Lake recreation sites and lake have now reopened after being closed for over two weeks because of the presence of a bear in the area. No reservations are need as this is a first come, first served site. There are walk-in campsites all around the lake. However, BC Parks cautions that this site has had numerous bear problems each year.
Camping is always best when you go with the best people What We Did at Cat Lake My friends and I had originally planned on camping in Osoyoos in the Okanogan but due to the vast amount of forest fires in my province, we decided that it was safer and better to be closer to Vancouver. Campground Directions: Drive North from Squamish on HWY 99 for spprox. 11km; Watch for the sign on the HWY directing you to turn off. Turn right onto the Cheekye Forest Service Road. Travel approx. 2.5km, Cat Lake parking lot is on the right hand side.

The Cat Lake Trail is a great little hike to get out and stretch your legs along the trail during a long weekend of camping at the nearby recreation site. Setting out from the parking area, pick up the trail off of Cat Lake Road and follow it south, heading right at the fork to follow the trail in a counterclockwise direction around the lake. Cat Lake is located in Squamish, British Columbia. It's a provincial recreation site maintained by the Squamish Nation Witness Society (Uts'am). The lake is accessible via a hiking trail from the parking lot, as there is no vehicle access. It is a popular spot for camping, hiking, and dirt biking. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout.
