Based on the epic 17th-century novel by Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote tells the story of a creative old knight who, inspired by a vision, convinces his sidekick Sancho Panza to join him in pursuit of the idealized Dulcinea. Their adventures lead them to Kitri, the daughter of an innkeeper, who is avoiding marriage to the wealthy Gamache in favour of her true love, Basilio, the barber. Gamache and Lorenzo attempt to pursue the young couple. Act II. Scene 1: Gypsy Camp. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza discover the fleeing couple in a friendly gypsy camp. All are inspired by the romance of the night. As the vision of Dulcinea appears to him, Don Quixote realizes Kitri is not his "ideal", but indeed belongs with Basilio. This ballet is pure fun.
