Echo Lake is a lakeside beach area.The facility has warm water swimming in a lake.Bathrooms,changing rooms,beach area,and hiking trails.All facilities are presently free of charge.The lake is located in Southwest Harbor.Nearby town,grocery store,and numerous hiking trails. Echo Lake is a popular spot for water and land recreation, located west of Somes Sound and north of Southwest Harbor. Small watercraft can be launched from Ikes Point along Route 102. Visitors can swim and enjoy the beach staffed by a lifeguard during the summer. With family, we visited Echo Lake Beach. It was very clean and family friendly - even for my 20 month old grand daughter. The beach has changing rooms, bathrooms.. short walk from parking lot to beach. Go early, sometimes parking lot fills up per my son. Echo Lake Beach is one of the only freshwater lakes visitors to Acadia National Park are allowed to swim in, and it features breathtaking views of Beech Cliffs. The long lake stretches out to the north, paralleled by Beech Cliffs on the left and the gently rising forest on the right.

Despite its proximity to the highway, this little lake at the foot of Cannon Mountain is a pleasant place to pass an afternoon swimming, kayaking or canoeing (rentals $20 per hour) in the crystal-clear waters. And many people do: the small beach gets packed, especially on weekends. There's a lifeguard on duty from 9am to 6pm.

Relax on the beach or take a dip on a warm summer day. we were here in October and it was amazing to see all the colors. enjoy the beauty of a 39-acre lake with an excellent view. The slopes of the Cannon Mountain ski area drop. Beautiful Echo Lake, at an elevation of 1,931 feet, offers views of Mt. Lafayette and Cannon Mountain. Visitors can also enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and canoe and paddle boat rentals. Last rental boats go out an hour before closure. The waters of Echo Lake flow westerly toward the Connecticut River.
