2. African Lion Safari, Hamilton It's getting closer to that time of the year when families plan a road trip during the weekend, so if you are in and around Hamilton, this place is a must-visit. It takes about an hour to reach the Zoo from the city center, and the drive is an enjoyable one. This is a hidden gem in Hamilton, Ontario. It is a relatively small operation but a private tour takes about 2 hours. Erica, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable about generous with the information she provided. She did not rush us and opened as many of the exhibits as was possible allowing us to handle the reptiles, tortoises, etc. Hamilton is an amazing Canadian city! It's rich in culture and history, and surrounded by an incredible nature. It has a great arts culture, has an UNESCO world reserve, and is a natural playground for kids! There are museums a-plenty in this amazing city. Sports lovers in the family? Check out the Canadian Football Hall of Fame!
