Truro's Head of the Meadow Beach is graced not only with towering cliffs, but an expansive stretch of sand, an example of Cape Cod at its most picturesque. Drive down Route 6 in Truro, past Coast Guard Beach, and you'll find Head of the Meadow, comprised of two beaches — one operated by the town and the other by the Cape Cod National. One of the real beauties of this part of the world is the Cape Cod National Seashore, and one of the gems of the National Seashore is Head of The Meadow. This is an easily-accessed beach that edges the Atlantic Ocean. It's family-friendly, with lots of bright colored umbrellas dotting the shoreline. Seals are a common sight as they bob along. Head of the Meadow Beach is the least visited National Park Service-managed beach at Cape Cod National Seashore due to its remoteness, but it is hands down the best beach in the park. The other beaches have so many rocks and pebbles on them that you might as well be walking on gravel, and that's no fun when it comes to bare feet. At least five lifeguards are up every day at Head of the Meadow, from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Miller noted the bike trail and hiking trails right by Head of the Meadow, along with three campgrounds.
