. Very little is as precious to photograph as a newborn baby. Those tiny toes, the fluttering eyelashes, the way they grasp their parents' fingers. These are the moments that parents want to record and keep forever. There are two schools of newborn photography - I think it is fair to say that they exist on one spectrum. The style of newborn photography that I specialize in is lifestyle sessions. Rather than posed newborn shots, I love to capture the relationship between the new baby and his/her parents and siblings. This doesn't mean that I won't take individual photographs of the baby and capture some great detail shots of his/her little toes and fingers. Lifestyle newborn photography involves capturing the newborn and their family in their natural home environment. These images are not posed but instead show the parents, siblings and even pets interacting with the baby in the nursery or home. You can technically do newborn lifestyle photography anywhere: the hospital, a relative's house, or even the car. But in my experience, it's always best to conduct the photoshoot at home. Why? If you capture images of the baby in their very first house, every backdrop and item of furniture will be meaningful.
