If you want a straight forward subclass that upgrades your base Fighter features, the PDK also accomplishes that.

Individually, each of the Purple Dragon Knight's abilities are great, but the sum of the abilities in the broader context of the Fighter class makes the Purple Dragon Knight a difficult option.
