22 Jun 23 Warhammer Community Staff Paint the Tyranids of Leviathan After last week's sterling efforts, which saw the Warhammer Community team paint up the Space Marines of the Leviathan boxed set, we're back at it again with some Tyranids. Tyranids are the only army in Warhammer 40,000 that is organic through and through, with absolutely no heraldry, armour, or insignias. To key into the organic, mutative nature of Tyranids we decided to vary up the Leviathan scheme more than before. The patchy color was also applied on the chest area, some pics from the Hormagaunt: Next step: tinting these parts with GW Flesh Tearers Red. The contrast paint will work only on the pale areas leaving almost untouched the black-blue, hence creating a nice transition. On the heads, i drew the same irregular red shapes visible in the 3rd edition.

Best Method: Thin Layers. Working in thin layers is a key technique to painting with this unplanned approach. Finding your style of painting takes time. 2. Wash all the skin areas with Seraphim Sepia . 3. Highlight the skin areas using Ushabti Bone. Make sure you leave the Seraphim Sepia showing through were the recesses are as shading. 4.
