[4] Von Gerkan was known for being the architect of Berlin Tegel Airport as well as Berlin Hauptbahnhof ('Berlin main railway station'). [5] Meinhard von Gerkan stammte aus einer deutsch-baltischen Familie. Er war mit dem deutsch-baltischen Klassischen Archäologen und Bauforscher Armin von Gerkan verwandt.
