The 300 TDi was an absolute gem. For a 2.5l engine it had loads of torque and used very little fuel. I did a lot of modification top the Disco over the years including a dual battery system, home-made rear drawer system, CB radios, and a dash pod with various instruments and controls. The abilities of the Discovery were extraordinary. A very wise decision in my opinion, I made the same decision six tears ago with my 1994 Discovery 300 Tdi, I didn't strip it but sold it to a friend who did the smallish amount of welding/ bodywork as mechanically it was very good, my age was beginning to tell and crawling under it was getting difficult.
