Los Tiradores de Ifni estaban integrados en el arma de Infantería, y eran un cuerpo de élite que junto a la Legión se preparaba para defender los territorios africanos entre los que estaban Sidi Ifni o el Sáhara.
El Grupo de Tiradores de Ifni n.º 1 (de entidad regimiento), mandado por el coronel Guillermo Rodríguez, contaba con cuatro tabores, si bien a raíz del inicio de incidentes, sabotajes y deserciones se licenció a la mayoría de los soldados indígenas, que fueron sustituidos por soldados españoles de reemplazo, y se concentró a los nativos. Han pasado muchos años desde que el Grupo de Tiradores de Ifni fue disuelto, por la retrocesión a Marruecos en 1969 de la provincia de Ifni. Pese a ello, en muchos de los que pertenecimos a él, sigue latiendo el espíritu del cuerpo y continuamos recordando los buenos (y alguno de los malos) momentos pasados en esas tierras africanas.

Personas que realizaron la "mili" en Sidi Ifni. Los Grupos de Tiradores de Ifni se componían de cuatro tabores en el nº1 y de tres tabores en el nº2, a su vez cada tabor constaba de tres compañías de fusileros y una de armas pesadas, esta ultima compuesta por españoles en su totalidad. Los Oficiales de Tiradores de Ifni disponían de 13 modalidades de uniformidad.
