Richtis CRETE INFO

Richtis Gorge is one of the most popular gorges to hike in east Crete. It's known for its lush, natural landscape that's quite different from the usual dry, rocky terrain you'll find on the Greek island. Richtis Gorge Trail (Φαράγγι του Ρίχτη) The route starts northeast from the village of Exo Mouliana, between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia and follows the bed of the Lachana stream to the north, towards the rocky Richtis beach. The story goes that a group of about 60 ethnic Turks were walking towards Sitia to catch a ship that would take them to Turkey. As they crossed the Lachanas bridge some local Greeks trapped them on the bridge and slaughtered them. Eastern Crete is home to the magnificent Richtis Gorge, where a refreshing and cool hike in the woods will lead you to a majestic waterfall. Are you ready to discover more?
