Jack Daniel's is a brand of Tennessee whiskey. It is produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, by the Jack Daniel Distillery, which has been owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation since 1956. Packaged in square bottles, Jack Daniel's "Black Label" Tennessee whiskey sold 12.9 million nine-liter cases in 2017. It's been 100 years or so since the Jack Daniel Distillery released a whiskey of 10 years of age or greater. Evolving Jack Daniel's past aged-stated whiskey process, these Tennessee Whiskey barrels have been aging in the Buzzard's Roost of our barrelhouse, and methodically relocated to the lower floors of different barrel houses to extend the aging process for the last 10 summers. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey was once bottled at 86 proof, but in 2004, was lowered to 80 proof. NOSE A pleasant mix of fruity sweetness, vanilla custard, oak, and banana. It's medium in intensity, yet still has a decent richness to it Apricot and corn provide an additional layer of nuance. Tasting Notes: Jack Daniel's Bonded Tennessee Whiskey. Vital Stats: Mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. 100 Proof (50% ABV). SRP $29.99/700mL. Appearance: The whiskey has a dark, burnt ochre appearance. Nose: It has a fresh, vegetal aroma, with hints of mint and oak. Palate: Grain and peat hit the palate in a clean, earthy. Jack Daniel's, and Tennessee whiskey in general, is known for its use of the Lincoln County process, in which the whiskey is filtered through maple charcoal before barreling to remove impurities and smooth out any rough edges. Gentleman Jack is essentially Old No. 7, only it has been "charcoal mellowed," as the brand puts it, a second. Jack Daniel's Bonded is the same mashbill as their standard Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey, however according to the company barrels used for Bonded "are hand-selected for their characteristics of deeper color, flavor, and aroma, which deliver a darker, richer, and more oak-forward character." Both new expressions will be bottled.
