The bearings that came with the Anet A8 were completely shot, grinding and locking up during movement. An AM8 is Born The All Metal Hotend in Action Finally! But life happens, and that box of extrusions sat on the shelf for a few years. Looking for a pandemic project, I decided it was time to take. When it comes to the Anet A8, upgrading the machine can make it more stable while providing additional functionality and features. Of course, upgrades on a 3D printer involves more than just changing out a few pieces. It can be much more complicated than that. Don't worry though. The goal of this guide is to create a sturdier frame for your Anet A8 printer, reusing as many components from the original printer as possible to reduce the costs of improvement as much as possible. I have designed this upgraded frame to work with an entirely stock Anet A8. The first major upgrade was to swap the Anet A8 original acrylic frame with an aluminum frame. As I mentioned in my previous post, the Anet A8 makes good prints out of the box, if assembled properly. The acrylic frame is not rigid enough to reduce the inherent wobble and vibrations of the Anet A8.
