Welcome. This restoration blog is intended to provide a rare glimpse into the restoration of a 1966 BMW 2000c. In 1965, the car was revolutionary with impressive performance including acceleration from zero to 60 at roughly 11 seconds, and a top speed of 115 mph. Introduced in 1965, this two door coupe was powered by BMW's 2.0L M10 inline 4 engine, fitted with two carburetors. The most powerful of the New Class Coupes, the 2000 CS was only available with a manual transmission. Production of the BMW 2000 CS ended in 1969. That development would lead to the still-famous 2002 model, a sporty and powerful version aimed squarely at the American market. Today's Rare Ride, a 1967 2000C, is from the middle of the coupe's production timeline (1965-1969). The difference between the C and CS versions was the number of carburetors, and thus the power available.
