Film genres appear as regions (Adventure Plains, Coming of Age Peninsula) and the films themselves appear as towns, with town size correlating to a film's importance. I feel if you separate films like that, you also could go for a map with dozens of little islands. If you choose a larger landmass (like you did), I would draw borders instead of roads. That allows you to place "borderline" films on (or near) the border between two (sometimes three) genres.
