The Panther II is a German tank design of the Second World War based on the design of the original Panther tank. It had slightly thicker armour than the Panther and adopted some standardised components from the Tiger II tank design. [1] The Panther II did not progress beyond prototypes and did not enter production. Development and production The Panther II's origins can be traced back to 1942. There were concerns that the Panther I did not have sufficient armor for protection against the anti-tank weapons that would be encountered on the Eastern Front in 1943.
