Shitō-ryū (糸東流) is a form of karate that was founded in 1934 by Kenwa Mabuni (摩文仁 賢和, Mabuni Kenwa). Shitō-ryū is synthesis of the Okinawan Shuri-te and Naha-te schools of karate and today is considered one of the four main styles of the art. [1] History Kenwa Mabuni (Mabuni Kenwa 摩文仁 賢和) was born in Shuri, Okinawa in 1889. This logo belongs to Kenwa Mabuni's family, showing harmony, and two Person (hito in Japanese) who are related together and cooperated in order to keep the Peace in the world. After Master Mabuni died, this sign has been selected as the SHITO RYU KARATE DO emblem to express intent of the founder of this style.

History A Brief History of the Origin of Shito-Ryu Karate-do has a rich and colourful history. The International Shitoryu Karate Union (I.S.K.U) is a non-political and non-profit organization. In this organization all Shitoryu teachers and masters are welcome, regardless of their race, religion or origin.
