It's true that CHON streamlines some of the band's grandiose, free-flowing musicality in favor of more traditional sonic. Chon are a prog "math" rock band, and pretty much just instrumental. This puts me in a weird position, as I'm really not totally sure how to quantify the album. Soundwise it reminds me of a lot of Japanese and video game rock music, which is cool. And it's definitely a vibe. I could see a lot of people putting on the album in the background.
