Cotehele ( Cornish: Kosheyl) [1] is a medieval house with Tudor additions, situated in the parish of Calstock in the east of Cornwall, England, and now belonging to the National Trust. It is a rambling granite and slate-stone manor house on the banks of the River Tamar that has been little changed over five centuries. Cotehele was the Edgecumbe family seat until the 17th century when they moved to Mount Edgecumbe, but the house stayed in the family until given to the National Trust in 1947. The last owner was Kenelm, 6th Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, whose son and heir, Piers, was killed in action near Dunkirk in 1940. Cotehele was the ancestral home to the Edgcumbe family for centuries.
