Godou Kusanagi (草薙 護堂, Kusanagi Godō) is the male protagonist of Campione!. Upon his encounter and defeat of the Persian Heretic God Verethragna, he became the 7th Campione, or godslayer. Godou Kusanagi, a former middle school baseball player who had to retire due to injury, is asked by his grandfather to return a stone tablet to a friend in Sardinia named Lucrezia Zora. After meeting the demonically manipulative sword-mistress Erica Blandelli, he encounters the god of war, Verethragna.

Campione! Season 1. Kusanagi Godou is a Campione, or God Slayer. His duty is to fight Heretical Gods, which really means he has to deal with a bevy of overly-worshippy female followers while trying not to become roadkill on the Highway to Heaven. 161 2012 13 episodes. Plus Godou is an unreliable narrator. Just look at his internal thought in Volume 3 or 5 or 10. Really Godou stops his denials starting in volume 6-7, then continues his gradual acceptance until he fully accepts his situation and nature in volume 15. Personally I think Godou is a very well written character written on contradictions.
