Review of the Sigma Zoom Master 35-70mm f/2.8-4 General Today's review was made when I gave myself a challenge: what's the cheapest lens I can get on Ebay that I can actually put on my Nikon and shoot with it? Well, the Sigma Zoom Master 35-70mm f/2.8-f/4 of course! I got it for free, it came with a film camera some time ago. 0:00 / 9:26 • Intro Finally a good vintage zoom! - Sigma 35-70mm f2.8-4 Standard Zoom MC - Test and review Marco Aries 4.44K subscribers Join Subscribe Subscribed 164 Share 9.4K views 3. The Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art is quite small and compact for a premium macro lens, weighing 515g and measuring 10.6cm in length, making it well-suited to being used hand-held as well as on a tripod or other support. There is a second reason for removing the hood for macro shooting, as it would obscure the distance and magnification markings that are engraved on an inner barrel that extends forwards some. With excellent mechanical quality and legendary Sigma build quality, the Zoom-Master 35-70mm for Canon mount lens is still very lightweight and compact, so it remains an excellent choice as an on-camera lens for both digital cameras as well as legacy film cameras.

It's a successor to a near identically-named lens from December 2009, the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM, but is smaller and lighter, uses revised optics, and has a new cosmetic design. Prior to this Sigma made the unstabilised 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC, a lens which was very highly regarded in its time. Posted: Thu Nov 25, 2010 2:10 pm Post subject: Sigma Zoom Master 35-70mm f2.8-f4. I got this lens with a camera body , lens is fungused a bit + aperture stuck at wide open. I thought this is a nice door stop only and perhaps I will throw out or I will disassemble it to study how a zoom lens is built. I did make a series with 35 and 70mm. It is extremely sharp at all focus distances. It also has weather sealing, and, continuing in the delightful trend from the 14-24mm ART, it is fully compatible with Canon's Lens Aberration Correction (only the second third party lens that this is true of). But are these things enough to make the 70 ART Macro worth adding to your kit?

Feels solid. Very large maximum aperature for the price. Focusing scale printed on the barrel. Autofocus works well with my Tamron 2x teleconverter (the only lens I have that does). Weakness: Plastic mount. Some distortion at 28mm. Depth of field preview on my Elan 7 will not work with this lens (it does on my EOS-1n). Smaller in size than you might expect, the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 Art Macro shares the same matte black stylings of the entire lens lineup and holds itself in a rather compact design. But compact only when not in use. When in use, the barrel will extend, quite a bit in fact, that helps achieve the macro functionalities of the lens.
