Volvo Buses has started the global launch of its latest chassis powered by the 8-L Volvo engine. The Volvo B8R and B8RLE replace the top-selling Volvo B7R and B7RLE, which saw a production run exceeding 40,000 units and sales in 65 countries. The Volvo B8RLE is a 7.7-litre-engined low-entry bus chassis manufactured by Volvo since 2013 for Euro VI markets. It was designed as a replacement for the B7RLE and the B9RLE. The model is exclusive to the UK and Ireland and represents one of three developments of the Volvo coach range in those markets. It will debut here in early 2024. The B8R features Volvo's D8K engine, producing up to 350hp and a peak torque of 1,585Nm and driving through a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission. All vehicles will be PSVAR-compliant and designed to accommodate 53 high quality seats and a toilet, which can be demounted to allow 55 seats, and Volvo promises 'generous on-board luggage racks.'
