The 4th Gorkha Rifles or the Fourth Gorkha Rifles, abbreviated as 4 GR, is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army comprising Gurkha soldiers of Indian Gorkha or Nepalese nationality, especially Magars and Gurungs hill tribes of Nepal. The Fourth Gorkha Rifles has five infantry battalions. The quite cantonment town of Subathu is home to the First Gorkha Rifles and houses the 14 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC). The Gorkha Rifles, which began as one unit, then known as the 1st Nusseree Battalion, is today seven regiments strong. It was also here that the Nasiri battalion, the first Gorkha battalion, was founded after the Anglo-Gorkha war, and is presently home to the 14 Gorkha Training Centre.
