For the uninitiated, a kolam is a traditional South Indian art form drawn by sprinkling rice flour at doorsteps and outside of one's house. Every morning, millions of women across the world draw kolams.. Simple dots, lines and curves make up a kolam. Basic lines making up complex patterns are called Padi kolams.
