This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Wetlands help clean our water, protect against climate change and even support our wellbeing. World Wetlands Day is the single most important communication and national awareness-raising event for wetlands.
