From my understanding, "Ya Ali madad" is basically calling out to Ali عليه سلام and asking for help from him. My first question is, is this correct? Secondly, I would like to ask how this phrase came about. Thirdly, I would like to ask how widespread it is amongst Shias. Is this something that every sect/group under the umbrella of Shiism uses?
