The Armed Services Blood Program - also known as the Military Blood Program - is the official military provider of blood products to U.S. armed forces. As a joint operation among the military services (Army, Navy, Air Force), the ASBP: Provides quality blood products for service members, veterans and their families in both peace and war. This Air Force Instruction (AFI) implements Air Force Policy Directive 44-1, Medical Operations, and Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 6480.4, Armed Services Blood Program Operational Procedures and is consistent with Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 41-111_IP, Standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services.
