Benson Commentary. Job 31:1. I made a covenant with mine eyes, &c. — So far have I been from any gross wickedness, that I have abstained from the least occasions and appearances of evil. It was possible Job's friends might make quite another use than he intended of the relation which he had made of his miserable condition in the foregoing. Isaiah 33:15. He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil, Matthew 5:28.
