Immersed in an ample private garden with a swimming pool and a tennis court and set in the center of Milan, the Necchi Campiglio Villa was completed by the architect Piero Portaluppi in 1935. Commissioning the structure was the Necchi Campiglio family, part of the rich and elegant industrial middle class of Milan in the 1930s. Designed by renowned Milanese architect Piero Portaluppi, the Villa was built between 1932 and 1935 at the bidding of its owners, the Necchi sisters Nedda and Gigina, and the latter's husband Angelo Campiglio, who were a family of industrialists belonging to Lombardy's upper middle class.

After living for a long time in the house, the Campiglio family gave the Villa to FAI. FAI is the Fondo Ambiente Italiano. Thanks to FAI everybody can now visit this Villa. Il progetto fu dell'architetto Piero Portaluppi, su incarico della famiglia Necchi Campiglio, membri della ricca ed elegante borghesia industriale della Milano anni Trenta. Villa Necchi Campiglio was opened to the public in 2008 by Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), Italy's National Trust. Relatively young by European standards, the villa was built between 1932 and 1935 by Milanese architect Piero Portaluppi for sewing-machine tycoon Angelo Campiglio, his wife, Gigina, and her sister Nedda Necchi. The Villa Necchi Campiglio, just to the east of the historic center of Milan, may look familiar. The house had a turn on the silver screen in the 2009 Italian movie "I Am Love," starring Tilda Swinton.
