At 1.33pm, the big parade starts at Maastricht Central Station and processes through the city centre.

Maastricht Carnival. The three-day carnival makes Maastricht the best party city in the Netherlands for the annual end-of-winter festivities. During these three days, the streets of Maastricht are filled with revelers in bright costumes, colorful floats, music, and dancing. The highlights of the celebration include the Prince Carnival selection. The "Prince of Fools". Prince Carnival of Maastricht is secretly chosen by a trio, who are members of the Protocol Committee ("Kanzelarij raod") of the Tempeleers Carnival Association. It's only during the public appointment ceremony that the new Prince is officially appointed and revealed to everyone on the Markt (central market square).
