Het werd geschilderd in juni 1888 te Arles en toont een weids landschap in een zomers zonlicht. Het werk bevindt zich thans in het Van Gogh Museum te Amsterdam . Context Liever niet In dit schilderij van het vlakke landschap rond Arles (Zuid-Frankrijk) is de droogte en hitte haast voelbaar. Van Gogh combineerde het azuurblauw van de lucht met gele en groene tonen voor het land, om de sfeer van een zomerse dag weer te geven. Dagenlang werkte hij onder de brandende zon in de korenvelden.
