'Elsrijk' is a dense, conical to broadly oval, deciduous tree with mid- to dark green leaves divided into five, rounded lobes, the entire leaf turning golden-yellow in autumn. Clusters of small, yellow-green flowers in spring are followed by winged fruit. Description: Acer campestre 'Elsrijk' is a Dutch form of the traditional Field Maple (Acer campestre) but with a more dense crown and a more upright shape. Usually used for street trees. The leaves are smaller than campestre, heart shaped and turn a lovely yellow in the autumn. Fairly tolerant to mildew. History: Introduced in 1953.
