The Frick Collection was the final American venue of a global tour of paintings from the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague, the Netherlands. While the prestigious Dutch museum underwent an extensive two-year renovation, it lent masterpieces that had not traveled in nearly thirty years. Helen Clay Frick (1888-1984) After the death of her father, Frick's daughter Helen played an important role at The Frick Collection. She devoted considerable time to art history, becoming an art connoisseur in the process. She was the driving force behind many of the museum's acquisitions. Frick Madison is open to the public. Titanic In 1881 Frick married Adelaide Howard Childs (1859-1931). The couple had four children: Childs (1883-1965), Helen Clay (1888-1984) and another two who died in childhood.
