The IB English syllabus states that you can pick any global issue for your Individual Oral, as long as the global issue satisfies all three of these criteria: It's pervasive and experienced all over the world in (pretty much) every country. It has a big impact on people. It affects people in common, everyday scenarios and environments. IB Defines a Global Issues as: global issue incorporates the following three properties. It has significance on a wide/large scale. It is transnational. Its impact is felt in everyday local contexts. GLOBAL ISSUES: IB LITERATURE Fields of Inquiry: The IB has defined global issues in the following manner: (a) they have significance on a wide/large scale; (b) they are transnational; (c) the impact is felt in everyday contexts (55). It is imperative students remember this and test their ideas against this definition when thinking about, developing and refining their individual oral.
