The group's name is derived from the first letters of the three first members from 1998: Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke, and Kathleen Aerts. De nieuwe K3: With Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke, Josje Huisman, Winston Post. Josje inherited her grandma's honky-tonk piano and imagines that enables her to become a composer instantly, without tuning or any musical training. Marcel is studying for a drivers' exam, but proves a nightmare pupil for Rosie and Kristel. Karen wants to 'liven up' K3's performances with self-written stand up comedy. Karen, Kristel en Josje stopten een paar jaar geleden met K3 en gaven het stokje door aan Hanne, Klaasje en Marthe.
