Nathaniel Joseph Ruess (pronounced / ruːs / ROOSS; [2] born February 26, 1982) [3] is an American singer and songwriter. He is best known as the founder and lead singer of the indie pop band Fun, and of the Format. [4] As of 2015, he also performs as a solo musician. [5] Early life Ruess was born the second child of Larry Ruess and Bess Zinger. Fun (stylized as fun.) was an American pop rock band based in New York City. The band consisted of Jack Antonoff (of Steel Train and Bleachers ), Andrew Dost (of Anathallo ), and Nate Ruess (of the Format ). [3] Fun formed in 2008, and their debut studio album, Aim and Ignite, was released in 2009 to moderate commercial success.
