Olympus MJU I Infinity Stylus μ[mju]1 f/3.5 35mm Point & Shoot Film Camera
The Olympus MJU I (Or Infinity Stylus in the US) is a brilliant point-and-shoot camera with a 35mm 3.5 lens. With a weatherproof body, compact design and reliable image quality, this camera is perfect for travel, nightlife and documenting life in general. It's a perfect all-rounder and it's more affordable than the MJU II! Helsinki main post office. It seems to be that my bargain flea market find Olympus Mjü 1 doesn't focus correctly.. (after all I am pretty happy how this came out) or I don't know to operate it. Some shots were in focus and most of them out of focus.I'm going to "waist"? another roll HP5+ before dumping that damn thing :) Helsinki, Finland. On paper, the Olympus Mju-I is a pretty sweet camera: it handles 50-3200 iso film; has shutter times of 1/15 to 1/500 sec.; a minimum focusing distance of only 35 cm; a 3 element, 3 group lens, and maximum f3,5. The mju-I ( aka mju, µ [mju] or ∞stylus) was the camera that launched the mju series and would lead to the much sought after mju II (aka Stylus Epic) -one of those prestige fixed focal length compacts that change hands for lots of Dosh. Some feel the much cheaper mju-I is just as good but as we'll see things didn't work out for me…

The Olympus Infinity (Mju) line is one of the most-hyped families of cameras in analog photography. Google the name and nearly every resultant post will gush about the entire range, with tall tales of a twenty-dollar thrift store camera with a lens that puts SLRs and Leica glass to shame. The Olympus mju-II, also known as the Stylus Epic, is a cult favorite film point-and-shoot that's been increasing in both popularity and price over the past 10 years. A relic of the late 1990's it offers a sharp 35mm F2.8 lens, excellent metering and accurate autofocus, all in a highly-pocketable, weather-sealed package. At an average price of $250 (more for one that's black, and much more for the rare and limited glittering burgundy model) the Olympus Mju II is one of the priciest point-and-shoot cameras of its type and time. But should it be so expensive? I decided to spend a few weeks with one to see if I could answer that question. Introduced in 1991, the Olympus μ [mju:] (Stylus in the US) was the first in the famed mju series of compact cameras by Olympus. Renowned camera designer Maitani Yoshihisa fashioned it as an improvement of his earlier Olympus XA design. The mju sported a very small and curvy body, designed to perfectly fit into one hand, and an integrated lens.

Like its predecessor, Mju II's design is rooted in simplicity, compactness, and capable optics: a 35mm 𝒇2.8 prime.

The biggest improvement lies in the viewfinder, which is significantly larger and easier to sight through compared to the 'through the keyhole' experience you get with the Mju II Prime. The Zoom 80 has selectable panorama baffles and, pleasingly, blacks out SLR-style while the shutter is open. The panorama mode proves disappointing in use.
