Over Hobbykaarten Petra. Petra Van Damme group — Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology — Ghent University Petra Van Damme group Research focus The aim of our research is to better our understanding of bacterial infection biology. Deep sequencing has enabled the study of gene expression at the transcript level. In bacteria, cell poles function as subcellular compartments where proteins localize during specific lifecycle stages, orchestrated by polar hub proteins. Whereas most described bacteria inherit an old pole from the mother cell and a new pole from cell division, polarizing cells at birth, non-binary division poses challenges for establishing cell polarity, particularly for daughter cells. PROTEOMICS Research Article N-terminal acetylome analysis reveals the specificity of Naa50 (Nat5) and suggests a kinetic competition between N-terminal acetyltransferases and methionine aminopeptidases Petra Van Damme, Kristine Hole, Kris Gevaert, Thomas Arnesen First published: 17 April 2015 https://doi.org/10.1002/pmic.201400575 Citations: 41 Staphylococcus Mastitis is an important problem in meat-producing sheep, but few studies have investigated the transmission dynamics of mastitis pathogens in these animals. The objective of this study was to describe the pathogens causing intramammary infections (IMI) in suckler ewes, their effect on somatic cell.

Most proximity labeling techniques use a promiscuous biotin ligase or a peroxidase fused to a protein of interest, enabling the covalent biotin labeling of proteins and subsequent capture and identification of interacting and neighboring proteins without the need for the protein complex to remain intact. Protein N-terminal (Nt) 1 acetylation is the transfer of an acetyl moiety from acetyl coenzyme A (Ac-CoA) to the N-terminal alpha-amino group of proteins. Nt-acetylation is one of the most common protein modifications in eukaryotes (1 -4) and has a wide range of functional implications and impacts protein-protein interactions (), protein subcellular targeting (6 -10), protein folding.
