The fuel-injected 1,402cc engine is silky smooth with massive amounts of low and mid-range torque. How much? With just 1000 kilometres under it's belt the Witch Cycles demo' GSX registered a genuine 120 N-m of torque at 5,000 rpm. But what is even more impressive is the fact that over 110 N-m is maintained from 3,000 rpm right through to 6,000 rpm! The driveline of the Suzuki GSX1400 is tight and immensely strong. The engine has a muscular mid-range but does run out of puff at the top end, by that time you are into licence losing speeds.

Suzuki GSX1400 (2001 - 2006) review Visordown Mon, 1 Jan 2001 Definite hit, this one. Not as much anarchic fun as a Bandit 1200, but far more sophisticated. Huge amounts of midrange torque mean you just roll the throttle on and off, and it looks the business. Could well become a cult bike There's heaps of torque with good levels of comfort The GSX1400 originally cost just over £6000, which seems remarkably cheap but there again, it is quite a basic bike with an air-cooled motor and steel chassis. Despite the perceived demand, in its day the Suzuki wasn't hugely popular but dealers did gamble on them selling and that means quite a lot were sold at discounted rates to clear stock.
