11 November 2017 Michele Roving Reporter For today's' post, Roving Reporter reviews his stay at the boutique hotel at The Witchery in Edinburgh. The Witchery takes its name from the hundreds of women burned at the stake as witches on Castlehill during the 16th and 17th centuries. Watching the rising sun light up the mercifully deserted Royal Mile early in the morning is delightful. The hotel is located in the Lawnmarket section, on the Royal Mile leading up to the castle gates, right in the heart of the city. By car: from Glasgow around 1 hour, from Newcastle around 2 hours 40 minutes and from Manchester just over 4 hours.
