Gamma Network on Input This Single-Ended (SE) 6V6 and 6V6GT Tube Amplifier Schematic is from the book Build your own Audio Valve Amplifier by Rainer zur Linde. Either 6V6 or 6V6GT pentode tubes can be used in the output position. The two triodes in the ECC83 (12AX7) are connected in parallel to obtain a low internal resistance.

#1 Hi everyone! I'm an EE, but pretty newbie to DIY vacuum amplifiers. After weeks of researches on books, forums, and youtube videos, I've some idea of how hi-fi schematics work. I'm now trying to finalize a schematic decision in order to order parts that I need. However, I've got few questions. Power Supply Schematic The schematic uses a 350 ohm power resistor to limit the B+ such that old style 6V6 tubes can be used. This resistor may be safely omitted if only 6V6GT type tubes are used. Full information on this amplifier build can be found on the 6V6 Lacewood Amp project page. This amplifier uses the high gain 12AX7/ECC83 double triode vacuum tube for the preamp stage, and the 6L6GC beam power tube for the output stage in a single-ended Class-A design. Class-A amps are voltage amplifiers. In a Class-A amplifier the output voltage's wave shape is the same with the shape of the signal voltage applied to the grid. The Electrical Design As I said in the introduction, I decided that I wanted to go with a single ended 6V6 design run in ultra linear mode. To do this I simply took the design point for a single ended class A stage directly off the 6V6 data sheet. This called for a -12.5v bias, a 250v plate and screen voltage, and a 5kΩ plate load.

The Angela Super Single-Ended amp uses two rectifiers and and two single-ended 6V6 output tubes, with a single 12AX7 preamp. I built this amp 15 or so years ago, when silver signal wire was a thing. Dual rectifier, dual Class A single-ended cathode biased output tubes Output Transformer: Air-Gapped Hammond 125 ESE Class A Stereo Tube Integrated Amplifier 40-20 Khz TRUE hi-fi Output Transformers (Made in USA) 8 Ohms Speakers Output Only (Tubes doesn't sound good at lower ohms anyway) 4W + 4W Pure Class A Single Set of RCA Input / Purest Signal Path Auto-bias / Maintenance Free Circuit - Just change the tubes in a few years! Back to 6V6 main page. 6V6 Single-Ended 2. Schematic by Charles W. Harrison Jr. (August 1957). Power 4.2W. Its was used as a treble amp. Amplifier. Power Supply. Two 6V6 tubes per channel is 1 amp rating and four tubes per channel is 2 amp rating on the 150 volt winding. The 150 volts is rather high with 220uF I would use on the voltage doubler capacitors vs the 22uF shown that does require 150 volts. I would order 120 volts with 220uF voltage doubler capacitors. And, I recommend the 220uF capacitors.

So I ended up with the following schematic for the amplifier. This deceptively simple design has a couple of things going for it. First it uses a 4S Universal preamp circuit as a driver, with the volume control moved to the front. This means that the 12AU7 driver tube can be substituted for a different sound and gain level with any of the. #1 It is no secret that I plan to build an active triamp system, the flavors of amplification I am going to try to build are SS class A (done) SS class D (eventually) and a small tube amp! So I am looking for the best sounding design using the 6V6GTA as an output, would like to have the best possible sound quality for the midrange and treble.
It was designed for an EL95 single ended three Watt circuit. The 16 Ω tap was used for the 8 Ω load to give an effective primary impedance of 5 kΩ. The 6V6 screen grid was taken to the 160 Volt rail used for the 6AT6. The circuit worked well but the power was down at around 1.5 Watts. There has to be a better way. So I decided that I should perform some investigations of the 6V6 in SE-UL operation and see what I could find out. Now in fairness, there is "some" information concerning the 6V6 in UL mode available on the internet.

Are you dead set on using the 6V6 as your output valve? You're probably aware it's not actually a triode (SET stands for 'single ended triode) but it can be hooked up in triode mode. #1 Please forgive me if this subject has been discussed before (or kindly direct me to those threads). I'm looking for information on how to build a single ended, low watt (10-12 watts), studio type amp using a single 6L6, 1-12Ay7 (or a 12AX7) preamp tube, and a 5Y3GT rectifier tube.
