I mean if an elf has human blood and can choose this fate then can a human who has some elf DNA choose the outcome of an elf? 3 ElderFuthark Else their quest for immortality would have gone a lot smoother. So it doesn't seem like the choice is passed to Elrond's and Elros' descendants. At least not uniformly.
