Unlike the stainless steel case of the GW-5000, the GW-M5610 has a lighter resin case. In the U.S., the GW-M5610U-1 (with update module 3495) is now being sold as the GWM5610-1 by some retailers (Casio.com, Amazon). This model possesses Tough Solar and Multi-band 6 Atomic Timekeeping technology housed within an even slim profile octagonal case. Non-Stop Tough Solar Power provides energy via a small solar panel combined with a large-capacity rechargeable battery that enables a variety of energy-hungry functions to operate smoothly. The bezel is also pretty standard, in the sense that you get the "G-Shock" inscription, like all other G-Shock watches. But in place of the "shock Resist" inscription that you find on most G-Shocks, this one says "Protection" to mimic the original DW-5000 from 1983. The version now being sold at the time of this writing (August, 2022) is a new model which "silently" replaced the old GW-M5610 and bears the model number GW-M5610U-1CF.. The beautiful green-blue backlight is replaced with a white LED on the left side of the watch face. Light is naturally. The watch can measure times of up to 24 hours. Timer - 1/1 min. - 24 hours. For fans of precision: the countdown timers help you to remember specific or recurring events by giving off an audible signal at a preset time. The time can be set to the nearest minute and up to 24 hours in advance.
